I just came across this article and could hardly believe it. It sounds believable and to some extent, matches little bits and pieces I've heard from other places. Nonetheless, it is truly disturbing and my heart goes out to the people caught in this predicament.

wow, he certainly has made a v comprehensive account of what is wrong in dubai. We had bits and pieces of news about it in the past,but they only hint at it. nothing like this barefaced fact finding. but he is brave and the Independent newspaper is brave to print it. I suspect those in power has ways of punishing people and organisation who are whistle blowers.
long ago, i predicted it will go tits up, to use water so wastefully, and to waste power so extravagantly, (creating snow for heavens sake, such folly!!) can only bring nemesis. Its a pity, because if they had been more environmentally savvy, and created a self regulating eco system, they could have opened a new horizon and pioneered a new environmental science that they could sell to the rest of the world. but for that they need to bring on board scientists and ecologists. (Maybe they tried, and were told by biologists that it is not possible).haha. You cannot beat the desert.
